Organization
The Department of Public Transportation (DTP) is an Aruban authority tasked with the arrangement, development, advisory, and evaluation of current laws and regulations in the public transport sector. DTP operates under the ministry responsible for public transportation.
This government department has been serving the community for 28 years and employs a dedicated team of 30 professionals.
Mission
The primary objective of the Department of Public Transportation is to develop and implement effective management strategies for public transportation on our roads. In addition, the DTP oversees and regulates developments within this sector to ensure safety and efficiency.

The Department of Public Transportation aims to create a modern, organized, and sustainable public transportation system that meets the needs of both residents and visitors. This initiative promotes mobility and contributes to a greener, less congested Aruba.

- Taxi: 465
- Small and large buses: 160
- Rental cars: 6,000
- Rental scooters: 400
- Tour vehicles: 380
- Irregular transport: 380
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Department of Public Transportation (DTP) include:
- Advising on and developing management strategies for public transportation.
- Monitoring and inspecting compliance with public transportation laws to ensure that clients adhere to the conditions set by the legislation.
- Administering public transportation permits, including granting, amending, transferring, renewing, and revoking, while providing guidance to the relevant ministry.
- Overseeing the development of logistical plans for public transportation.
